I was born in Kunsan, South Korea on an Air Force base and moved back to Southeast Columbus as a baby. I graduated from Groveport Madison High School in 1987 and then attended THE Ohio State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1993.
Denise joined the BIG team August 2022 as a licensed Property & Casualty office manager. Denise brings a wealth of knowledge to the agency. She has been licensed since the year 2000. She has worked on the independent and captive side of insurance, but prefers what the independent agency has to offer. Denise has lived in Powell, since 2016, with her husband, Josh, and two children, Shay and Brooke. Josh is a Director of claims for Pekin Insurance. When Josh and Denise aren’t working, they are traveling the country watching their daughter play elite softball. Denise also volunteers doing admin duties for the Olentangy Liberty Softball program.
Jason Mikalas is President of Commercial Lines at BIG insurance agency, a local business in Powell founded by Norm Boling. Together they have over 36 years of experience. Serving All Ohio and beyond. His extensive insurance experience spans various areas including Commercial, Personal and Life. Jason possesses the ability to assimilate his background with clients specializing in commercial, high growth environments. From all fields of Contractors, Trucking, Commercial Buildings, Restaurants, and E&O. He thrives on servicing others and prides himself on his ability to meet the customer “where they are at” within their specific insurance needs. Building relationships is one of his greatest assets. Jason attended The Ohio State University and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He also enjoys playing basketball with his son Oliver, golf, and cooking in his spare time. It is not uncommon to find Jason behind a grill feeding family, friends, and neighbors.
Kim joined the BIG team in 2021 as a licensed Property & Casualty agent. In addition to helping clients with their insurance needs, she is excited to be focusing on new business, marketing, training and special events for the BIG team. A University of Cincinnati graduate, Kim has lived in Powell for the past 11 years with her husband Tim and their two children, Sara and Colin. In addition to traveling, spending time with her family and raising two golden retrievers, you might find her at The Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, where she is now in her 6th season with Guest Relations and her 3rd season as a manager of their Halloween event, Zombiezi Bay.
Emilie joined the BIG team in 2021 and is a licensed Property & Casualty agent. A Michigan native and Michigan State University grad, Emilie has lived in Powell since 2013 with her husband, Randy and their two daughters, Ellie and Abby who attend Olentangy Schools. She has a passion for traveling and her newest goal is to take her kids to as many states as possible (just over 20 left to go!) before they graduate high school. She welcomes any and all travel tips! You might find her helping her daughter run her etsy shop or chasing her two dogs, Gus and Hazel, in the backyard!
Taryn graduated with her bachelor’s degree in 2016 in business administration. After devoting many years to being a stay-at-home mom she branched out and joined the Boling Insurance Group in 2021 as a customer service representative. She enjoyed working for the BIG so much, that she became a licensed Property and Casualty agent in early 2022 and is excited to grow in the industry. Taryn moved to Dublin 10 years ago where she lives with her husband, Jeremy, and 3children, Lillyan, Ethan, and Aidan. In her free time, you will likely find her at home spending time with her family, making crafts, watching tv, and enjoying her backyard watching her 2 dog’s runs around.
Jaxen joined the BIG team in 2021 when his Great Uncle Norm inspired him to become the first family member to be a part of the BIG. Jaxen, a longtime resident of Westerville, is a graduate of Columbus State Community College and is continuing to pursue his educational studies further at The Ohio State University. Jaxen enjoys working with the amazing BIG team that has now become like a second family. In addition to assisting BIG clients Jaxen enjoys running long miles, listening to music, and playing the guitar. |
